You've made it to the StrataVista Website!
Here you will find a compendium of information on the many aspects of the house. For most, this will be the How-To guide for enjoying a stay at the house, how to operate the various systems in the house and what to do if something isn't working properly (technology! I know!) There is also a summary/overview of the house on the About page.
There are several ways to access information. One is room-by-room where most every room will have a list of the things you might want to use or do in that room. Within each system, you will find several types of information, since this site serves different users. These include usage guides that most would want, but also installation guides to aid repair, troubleshooting, and, for some things, also design information and descriptions of how things work together.
To get started, just pick a room or system from the links below.
Run the hot water until it gets hot and give it a sniff. If it smells of rotten eggs, read up on how to treat it. If the water doesn't run at all, that's another problem.
Check bedrooms and beds for clean sheets and towels. The washer/dryer are rather slow, so you'll want to start that right away.
Check the Sonos system for sound so it'll be ready when you want it. No sound?
If you like warm floors, turn on the radiant heat in the bathroom.
The house has SONOS music in many rooms. This can be controlled from several methods including an App on your phone, an App on your computer and by Alexa. Songs can come from TuneIn for streaming stations, a local music library, or your phone's. I make no attempt to instruct how to use it here.
Alexa (we use the key-word "echo" for it) control is possible, but can only do a single room, though if that room is part of an existing group, it will affect the whole group. Here are some possible commands to try:
"Echo, play KRML in kitchen"
"Echo, turn off music in kitchen"
Here are a list of the room names that have Sonos:
Bedroom #4 - the downstairs one on the right
Bedroom #5 - the downstairs one on the left
Dining Room
Dining Patio
Garage
Kitchen
Living Room
Lower Patio
Master Bedroom
Master Bath
Master Deck
Media Room
The coffee station is behind bi-fold doors opposite the stove.
There is a pot-filler faucet inside that cabinet that provides filtered water that can be added directly into the back of the drip coffee maker. As a hint, use the 1/4 cup scoop for each 4 cups of coffee you are brewing. You'll also find a chrome coffee urn that you can fill when you have a large group and need to brew more than one batch, to free up the machine.
Gather up all trash from bathrooms and elsewhere and compact it with the kitchen trash. This needs to be taken out of the house with you. There is a tiny (BLACK) trash can we share with our neighbor, Rosa, at the bottom of the hill with our house number on it. It can go in there if there will still be some room left afterwards, otherwise, please take it with you. Do not overload - lid must fully close!
Check that all toilets have been flushed and stop running.
Turn off the radiant heat in the bathrooms - should display "AWAY" mode.
Put covers back on outdoor furniture.
Strip beds of sheets and leave on the floor.
Take towels up to the laundry room.
If floors need vacuuming, read about the Cental Vacuum system.
Check that the gas has been turned off on the firepit and BBQ.
Gather up all recycling to take down the hill. Check the pull-out bin in the island and the garage. There is a bigger (BLUE) container for recycling, also with our house number on it, so there should be room for the recycling. Glass, cans and cardboard all go in the same bin. Do not overload!
Check that windows are closed.
Check that doors are locked.
Check that all lights are out - no glowing buttons on keypads except the "OFF".
